The Pentagon plans to launch the 10th Quadrennial Review of Military Compensation on April 1. Officials say they will base the QRMC on the recommendations of the Defense Advisory Committee on Military Compensation. The Congressionally chartered commission submitted an initial assessment in late February and planned to turn in its final recommendations in April. Leading the Pentagon effort will be retired Air Force Brig. Gen. Jan D. Eakle, who last served as deputy director of the Defense Finance and Accounting Service.
The Air Force has embraced new technical approaches like open mission systems and rapid software updates for cutting-edge aircraft like the B-21 and Collaborative Combat Aircraft. Increasingly, though, the service is also working to apply these to its older, “legacy” aircraft, officials said this week.
