Some 30,000 active duty and reserve military personnel, retired service members, DOD civilians can get tickets for the AT&T National Golf Tournament at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Md., on the July 4 holiday, according to a May 28 American Forces Press Service release. Professional golfer Tiger Woods, who is sponsoring the event for the second time, will share the first tee on July 2 with 25 children of military parents, letting two of them take ceremonial first shots. Woods commented during a tourney press event May 27: “I was raised in a military family. I know what it takes, the dedication it takes. They don’t get enough thanks.” Proceeds from the tournament will help the Tiger Woods Foundation, and there is a “Click and Donate Program” on the tourney Web site at which individuals purchasing tickets may donate to any of six charitable organizations that benefit military members and their families.
