Roy Visits Colombian Military

CMSAF James Roy last month visited a host of Colombia military sites to reaffirm US Southern Command’s commitment to the bilateral partnership and to explore professional military education exchange opportunities between USAF and the Columbian air force. “Our two nations already have a partnership in combating narcotics trafficking, responding to natural disasters, and providing humanitarian assistance to those in need,” Roy told a group of Colombian air force students during his trip. He added, “I see Colombia as a leader in promoting regional stability, and the US Air Force wants to continue to be a part of that effort.” Gen. Julio Gonzalez Ruiz, Colombian air force chief of staff, said noncommissioned officers will play a key role in keeping the partnership healthy. Roy said he was open to sending NCOs to Colombia for a “cross-cultural exchange” program. (Bogota release by TSgt. Eric Petosky)
