The Air Force has instituted a new policy so that former Air Force employees who were realigned under the Army or Navy because of BRAC or joint basing initiatives will now have an avenue to return to the Air Force, the Air Force Personnel Center announced Oct. 23. Under the change, Defense Department civilian employees will now be referred to the hiring official, along with current Air Force civilians, for all permanent Air Force civilian positions. This move comes as the Air Force is increasing the number of available civilian jobs by about 4,500 in Fiscal 2010, including some 900 acquisition slots. (Randolph report by SSgt. Steve Grever)
