Air Force Reserve Command boss Lt. Gen. Charles Stenner has selected CMSgt. Kathleen Buckner for the command’s top enlisted position. Prior to this assignment, Buckner served as the command chief for the 349th Air Mobility Wing at Travis AFB, Calif., since May 2009. “We’re looking forward to Chief Buckner coming on board and sharing her distinctive wealth of experience. She’ll play a crucial leadership role through a historical period in this command,” said Stenner in a release. Buckner will replace CMSgt. Dwight Badgett, who is moving on to be senior enlisted advisor for Joint Task Force North at Fort Bliss, Tex.
The Air Force and Boeing agreed to a nearly $2.4 billion contract for a new lot of KC-46 aerial tankers on Nov. 21. The deal, announced by the Pentagon, is for 15 new aircraft in Lot 11 at a cost of $2.389 billion—some $159 million per tail.
