F-22s from the 7th Fighter Squadron at Holloman AFB, N.M., arrived in late May at Kadena AB, Japan, for a four-month deployment. This tour, which is part of a normal rotation of US combat forces in the Pacific region, marks the first overseas deployment for Holloman’s new Raptor force. Airmen and Guardians in the Active and Reserve component, as well as civilian employees, in “mission critical and high-risk populations” are now required to receive influenza vaccinations annually to “preserve force readiness,” according to a recent Department of the Air Force memo.
