Registration for the 2013 Air Force Marathon in Dayton, Ohio, opens on Jan. 1 with a special one-day discount, according to event organizers. The marathon kicks off with a 5k race on Friday, Sept. 20, 2013, at Wright State University, followed by the full marathon, half marathon, and 10K race on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013. The latter three races will start and finish at the National Museum of the United States Air Force on the grounds of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. For New Year’s Day, the registration fee for the full marathon and half marathon will be discounted by $10.00, while those who commit to the 10k race or 5k event will save $5.00, states a base release, which breaks down all of the fees and sign-up deadlines. “We encourage all participants to register as early as possible,” said race director Robert Aguiar. The Air Force Marathon sold out in record time in 2012—on May 19—and organizers said they anticipate selling out even faster for the 2013 races, “We are very excited to debut our course changes in 2013. We believe runners will really like the changes,” said Aguiar. (Air Force Marathon website)
