Eight A-10 Thunderbolt IIs and about 140 airmen from the 122nd Fighter Wing at Fort Wayne ANGS, Ind., have deployed to Sliac AB, Slovakia, in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve. The airmen will train with their Slovakian counterparts and participate in cross-border training with other USAF aircraft, including F-16s, KC-135s, and C-130s, during the month-long deployment, according to a US Air Forces i?n Europ?e?? r??ele?ase. Indiana has had a state partnership with the NATO ally since 1993. The 163rd Expeditionary Fighter Squadron will demonstrate their close air support capabilities and conduct classroom events to further integrate with the Slovakian forces while at Sliac AB.
Seven F-22 Raptor pilots have recently been awarded one of the military’s highest decorations for their actions during operations in the Middle East. Six of the pilots were decorated with the Distinguished Flying Cross for their role in Operation Midnight Hammer, the June 2025 strikes against Iranian nuclear facilities.
