Air Force Materiel Command’s enlisted corps last week surprised Gen. Donald Hoffman, AFMC boss since November 2008, by informing him that it will induct him into the command’s Order of the Sword in October. CMSgt. Eric Jaren, AFMC’s command chief, made the announcement during the command’s enlisted awards banquet on March 31 at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. The Air Force and Boeing agreed to a nearly $2.4 billion contract for a new lot of KC-46 aerial tankers on Nov. 21. The deal, announced by the Pentagon, is for 15 new aircraft in Lot 11 at a cost of $2.389 billion—some $159 million per tail.
