Officials with the 3rd Wing at Elmendorf AFB, Alaska, are scheduled to break ground Saturday on a Fisher House. Although there are numerous Fisher Houses in the continental US, the “Fisher House of Alaska” will be the first one built in Pacific Air Forces’ area of responsibility. “The groundbreaking is going to be a fairly significant day for us,” said Lt. Col. Andrea Vinyard, the wing’s point of contact for the project. The groundbreaking ceremony will be held in concert with the ribbon cutting for the new Anchorage Veteran Affairs Outpatient Clinic and Regional Office that will located next to the Fisher House. Completion of the Fisher House construction is anticipated one year to 18 months after the groundbreaking. On May 1, Air Force officials broke ground on a Fisher House at Dover AFB, Del.
