Maj. Gen. Hank Morrow relinquishes command of 1st Air Force (Air Forces Northern) to Maj. Gen. Garry Dean Thursday during a ceremony at Tyndall AFB, Fla. Gen. Gene Renuart, US Northern Command boss, and Gen. William Fraser, head of Air Combat Command, will officiate at the ceremony. Morrow has led 1st AF, which is responsible for the air defense of the continental US, since November 2006. He will become US Defense Representative to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth visited the site of U.S. Space Command’s future home Dec. 12 and endorsed the move to establish the headquarters in Alabama after years of political back and forth.
