The remains of another airman who died in a Nov. 22, 1952, crash have been identified. A1C Delroy Cody was among the 11 crewmen and 41 passengers on board a C-124 Globemaster II when it crashed while traveling between McChord AFB, Wash.?, and Elmendorf AFB, Alaska, according to an Air Force press release. Search parties were unable to find the wreckage at the time. An Alaska Army National Guard UH-60 Black Hawk crew flying over Colony Glacier in June 2012 spotted debris, and a recovery operation began later that month. Since 2013, Alaskan Command and Alaska National Guard troops have joined in the recovery effort, Operation Colony Glacier, during a small window of opportunity every summer. Cody’s remains were recovered in 2015, but his family was notified that he had been found this week, an Air Force spokesperson told Air Force Magazine. His remains will be returned to his family for a burial with full military honors, according to the release. Two airmen were recovered in March, and the remains of 32 people have been found so far, according the Air Force.
