Tomorrow begins Air Force Week festivities in Omaha, Neb., that will run through Aug. 17. During the nine-day celebration of the service, the Air Force will sponsor events to get its message out and build relationships with the local community around Omaha and nearby Offutt Air Force Base. The festivities will culminate with a “Defenders of Freedom” open house and air show at Offutt on Aug. 16 and Aug. 17 that will include performances by the Thunderbirds air demonstration team. Philadelphia hosted the first Air Force Week in 2008 in late May. The third and final Air Force Week is scheduled for Los Angeles in November.
Lt. Gen. Stephen L. Davis, the Department of the Air Force’s top internal watchdog, has been nominated to lead Air Force Global Strike Command, which oversees the service’s bombers and intercontinental ballistic missiles.
