The Air Force hasn’t made a public announcement on the specific locations for its five new regional contracting centers, but an Oct. 10 release explains the background for a “fundamental transformation of the installation acquisition organizational structure.” Maj. Gen. Tom Owen, head of the Warner Robins Air Logistics Center in Georgia, talked recently about the additional jobs that the new RCC would bring to Warner Robins, Ga. And, we’ve learned that the other four centers will be in Colorado Springs, Colo., Hampton Roads, Va., San Antonio, Tex., and St. Louis, Mo. Under the new arrangement, USAF also plans to “consolidate acquisition management and oversight” under Air Force Materiel Command.
