The Air Force has openings in chronic undermanned career fields for enlisted airmen who have been told to retrain—or else—but first they needed to submit an application by Monday. Those who failed to meet that deadline can kiss their blue suit goodbye. And, airmen on the hit list who want to stay in the service have until Feb. 28 to apply for a specific new job. So far in Fiscal 2007, 1,073 airmen selected for involuntary retraining have had new jobs chosed for them by the Air Force Personnel Center.
Air Force Gen. Jacqueline D. Van Ovost—a trailblazer and one of the first 10 women to reach a four-star rank across the U.S. military—retired and passed control of U.S. Transportation Command to Air Force Gen. Randall Reed on Oct. 4, finishing an eventful tenure at TRANSCOM.
