California Feeling Space Pressure: With Florida ramping up efforts to protect and extend its space industry, California is getting a tad nervous. According to the Los Angeles Times, Florida and several other states are advancing space initiatives that are chipping away at the California space niche. One lobbyist told the Times that the space industry seems to have more clout in the Florida political arena. Hmmm.
The Air Force and Boeing agreed to a nearly $2.4 billion contract for a new lot of KC-46 aerial tankers on Nov. 21. The deal, announced by the Pentagon, is for 15 new aircraft in Lot 11 at a cost of $2.389 billion—some $159 million per tail.
