Gov. M. Jodi Rell (R) announced Monday that Connecticut is taking the Pentagon and the BRAC commission to court over the decision to remove the A-10 aircraft from the Connecticut Air National Guard’s 103rd Fighter Wing. Although the Bradley Airport facility is not slated to close, the move would leave the state without an ANG flying mission. It is the fourth state to go to court over a BRAC decision. The others: Pennsylvania, Illinois, and Tennessee.
Earlier this week, the People’s Republic of China confirmed it is halting its nuclear arms control talks with the U.S., in retaliation for the U.S. continuing to sell arms to Taiwan. The move reinforces a “pattern of behavior” from Beijing, experts say.
