The Air Force named the 436th Services Squadron Port Mortuary, Dover AFB, N.J., as the winner of the 2005 Specialized Program Award—the second year in a row the unit has won the honor. It is DOD’s only port mortuary in the US and is the largest mortuary in the department. It’s staff comprises Air Force, Army, Marine Corps active duty and reservists and civilians.
The Air Force and Boeing agreed to a nearly $2.4 billion contract for a new lot of KC-46 aerial tankers on Nov. 21. The deal, announced by the Pentagon, is for 15 new aircraft in Lot 11 at a cost of $2.389 billion—some $159 million per tail.
