Air Force Gen. Richard Myers, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said Tuesday that “hopefully” he was taking his last DOD press conference as Chairman. He used the occasion to urge Americans to “remain steadfast in our fight against” terrorism. “As a nation, he said, our best weapons are patience and resolve—or, in one word, our will.” Myers retires Sept. 30 after 40 years of service.
Air Force Gen. Jacqueline D. Van Ovost—a trailblazer and one of the first 10 women to reach a four-star rank across the U.S. military—retired and passed control of U.S. Transportation Command to Air Force Gen. Randall Reed on Oct. 4, finishing an eventful tenure at TRANSCOM.
