Air Education and Training Command confirmed last Friday that 2nd Lt. Taryn Robinson, assigned to the Air Intelligence Agency’s 346th Test Squadron, Lackland AFB, Tex., was critically injured in an airplane crash southeast of San Antonio on Sept. 21. She was flying with a flight instructor from a civilian flying school that runs an Air Force Introductory Flight Training program. The civilian instructor was killed in the crash. An AirLife helicopter transported Robinson to Brooke Army Medical Center, Ft. Sam Houston, where she remains in critical condition. The National Transportation Safety Board has begun an investigation. A team of Air Force officers will also investigate the incident.
Air Force Gen. Jacqueline D. Van Ovost—a trailblazer and one of the first 10 women to reach a four-star rank across the U.S. military—retired and passed control of U.S. Transportation Command to Air Force Gen. Randall Reed on Oct. 4, finishing an eventful tenure at TRANSCOM.
