Shaking up the Air Force’s supply system, Air Mobility Command announced Monday that two logistics support centers will soon replace the service’s five regional supply squadrons. In April 2006, a Mobility Air Forces Logistics Support Center at Scott AFB, Ill., will handle supply back-shop operations for all Air Force mobility aircraft while another center—Combat Air Forces LSC—at Langley AFB, Va., will be responsible for combat aircraft.
Expanded production of the B-21 bomber can be accomplished at Northrop Grumman's existing Palmdale, Calif., facilities, the Air Force said. It also said test aircraft will be so simular to the production version that early examples could be used in combat if called for.
