The Air Force recently changed its policy toward pregnant Reservists, allowing them to serve out their full Active Duty Operational Support orders. Previously, a pregnant Reservist needed to be taken off ADOS orders at 34 weeks, but the change will now allow them to serve through their full term on orders or when they give birth. The policy also states that airmen who are pregnant or give birth during a continuous period of service of at least 12 months are eligible for up to 12 weeks of non-chargeable maternity leave, according to an Air Force release.
Air Force Gen. Jacqueline D. Van Ovost—a trailblazer and one of the first 10 women to reach a four-star rank across the U.S. military—retired and passed control of U.S. Transportation Command to Air Force Gen. Randall Reed on Oct. 4, finishing an eventful tenure at TRANSCOM.
