A Russian MiG-29 crashed after taking off from an aircraft carrier in the Mediterranean Sea on Sunday, shortly after the carrier arrived for an expected Russian and Syrian assault on the city of Aleppo. Three MiG-29s took off from the carrier Admiral Kuznetsov for a sortie over Syria, when one of the jets apparently suffered mechanical difficulties and turned around, according to FOX News. The jet reportedly crashed into the water as it attempted to land. The pilot ejected, however, the pilot’s status was unclear, US officials told FOX. Russian state media reported the presence of the Kuznetsov has forced members of the opposition party to participate in the cease fire.
