Orlando, Fla.—Changes to the enlisted performance review will also reflect an emphasis on feedback and relationships between supervisors and subordinates, said CMSAF James Cody. Speaking to reporters here at AFA’s Air Warfare Symposium on Friday, Cody said the process is going to be “fundamentally” different, including a new airman comprehensive assessment feedback form and changes to performance and promotion assessments. The changes are an “evolution” of a system that has been around 20-plus years, he said. By and large, the feeling was “the system was inflated” and it did not “discern amongst people’s performance,” he said. Cody said he was “encouraged” that the new airmen comprehensive assessment feedback form will be appearing in the coming months. The form will be much more personal in nature, he said. While the form has always asked about finances and relationships, the new form will also include a self-assessment, said Cody. “It’s not about making a value judgment,” he said, but it’s an opportunity to help and to identify resources and tools available. “It is much more intimate in the fact that we are going to have a lot more conversations,” he said.
