Facility Dedicated in Honor of Fallen EOD Airman

Officials at Eglin AFB, Fla., on Oct. 30 dedicated Building 1314 on base to the memory of TSgt. Daniel Douville, an explosive ordnance disposal technician who died in Afghanistan in 2011 from injuries he suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated. The building is now called the Douville EOD Facility. “I’m grateful,” said Douville’s widow LaShana Douville in an Eglin release. She added, “I tell my children, ‘That is your name up there forever,’ and, one day, they will understand the sacrifices made for them.” Douville was a member of Eglin’s 96th Explosive Ordnance Disposal Flight. He died on June 26, 2011, in Afghanistan’s Helmand province while on his third deployment, according to the release. He was 33. “For decades to come, people will know Daniel Douville and his family made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and our freedom,” said TSgt. Adam Meredith, one of Douville’s colleagues.
