AFSPC Dedicates Education Center: Air Force Space Command officials have dedicated the command’s space professional development center the Moorman Space Education and Training Center, naming it after retired Gen. Thomas Moorman Jr., a former AFSPC commander who retired in 1997 as Air Force vice chief of staff. The dedication of the facility, located at Peterson AFB, Colo., took place Sept. 13. At the event, one of many highlighting the command’s 30th anniversary, Gen. William Shelton, current AFSPC commander, said: “We commit this center to the development of deep space expertise and capability within our Air Force and we name it after someone who has dedicated his adult life to that same objective.” The center is also the only DOD source for space training for allied and partner nations.
