Registration for the 2012 Air Force marathon is now open. Although race organizers have added 1,500 extra spots, they still expect all 15,000 spots to sell out based on the race’s recent growth. “We are encouraging everyone to beat the rush and register early. It is the only sure way to guarantee a spot,” said Molly Louden, marathon director, in a release. The full marathon, half marathon, and 10K are scheduled for Sept. 15 at the National Museum of the US Air Force at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. The 5k race, hosted by Wright State University, is scheduled for the day before at the school’s Nutter Center. This year, the B-2A stealth bomber is the featured aircraft for the marathon, according to a separate release. It will be displayed on all official marathon gear, including the finisher’s medal.
