The Air Force will purchase a C-37A executive transport for $26.8 million that it previously leased from Gulfstream Aerospace. The aircraft is based on the Gulfstream V business jet. The Air Force operates a fleet of 10 C-37As that augments the service’s larger Boeing 757-based C-32s for shuttling senior military and government officials. One Airman was killed and three others injured in a vehicle mishap at Malmstrom Air Force Base, Mont., on June 29. Additionally, two first responder Airmen sustained injuries responding to the incident. All five injured Airmen have been transported to nearby medical facilities, according to a release from the base.
