: Officials at Offutt AFB, Neb., last week officially opened 29 new temporary lodging facilities at the base, which is home to the 55th Wing and US Strategic Command. The new housing units are in three different styles and range in size from 1,500 square feet to 1,688 square feet. Each unit includes two bedrooms. Offutt officials said they are a welcomed change, as the base’s TLFs have been considered less than ideal for many years. “These are the type of facilities that the members of Offutt deserve to stay in,” said Col. Michael Allshouse, 55th Mission Support Group commander. America First Communities built and owns these houses; it is leasing them to the base. The Offutt officials said this is apparently the first arrangement of this type across the Defense Department. (Offutt report by Ryan Hansen)
