Thirteenth Air Force, headquartered at JB Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, is co-hosting the 2010 Pacific Rim Airpower Symposium this week in Singapore with the Republic of Singapore Air Force. Discussions on regional cooperation and the use of air forces in support of peace operations are the agenda for the invitees from the air forces of 25 Pacific nations. Coinciding with PACRIM, which runs July 19-23, is the Senior Enlisted Leadership Conference, the largest multinational enlisted gathering designed to “enhance the professionalism of the different air force enlisted corps in the region.” The leadership conference was first held in 2008. The Air Force and Boeing agreed to a nearly $2.4 billion contract for a new lot of KC-46 aerial tankers on Nov. 21. The deal, announced by the Pentagon, is for 15 new aircraft in Lot 11 at a cost of $2.389 billion—some $159 million per tail.
