Lt. Col. David Bosko and TSgt. David Cheney have received Bronze Star Medals for their meritorious service in Afghanistan. Bosko, deputy commander of the 3rd Combat Communications Group at Tinker AFB, Okla., received his medal for his leadership in establishing combat communications in Afghanistan from September 2008 to March 2009, according to a Tinker release Dec. 23. This included the largest communications capability increase in the history of the 455th Air Expeditionary Wing at Bagram Airfield. Cheney, a facility inspection technician with the 319th Civil Engineer Squadron at Grand Forks AFB, N.D., received his Bronze Star Dec. 17 in recognition for his work during a 12-month tour with a provincial reconstruction team that was responsible for more than 120 construction and humanitarian projects valued at more than $108 million. The Air Force and Boeing agreed to a nearly $2.4 billion contract for a new lot of KC-46 aerial tankers on Nov. 21. The deal, announced by the Pentagon, is for 15 new aircraft in Lot 11 at a cost of $2.389 billion—some $159 million per tail.
