According to an Associated Press report, the airmen of the 319th Communications Squadron at Grand Forks AFB, N.D., cut a ceremonial ribbon Oct. 8 for their new mission—alternate control station for the Air Force’s High Frequency Global Communication System. The system provides communications support for the White House and DOD agencies, US embassies, and military aircraft and ships. The primary system is located at Andrews AFB, Md.
The rate of building B-21 bombers would speed up if the fiscal 2026 defense budget passes. But it remains unclear how much capacity would be added, and whether the Air Force would simply build the bombers faster, or buy more.
