The 508th Aerospace Sustainment Wing and the 84th Combat Sustainment Wing at Hill AFB, Utah, will be merged into one unit in the coming months. Ogden’s Standard-Examiner reported yesterday that the 84th CSW will join the 508th ASW, thereby consolidating leadership and management functions since these two organizations have like responsibilities. According to the newspaper, the reformed 508th ASW will oversee sustainment activities for weapon systems like the A-10, F-16, F-22, F-35, and some simulators and training equipment as well as MQ-1 Predator and MQ-9 Reaper unmanned aerial vehicles. It was just last month that Hill was identified as the seat of future MQ-1 and MQ-9 depot work. The UAV-related work could bring about 300 new jobs to Hill, the newspaper said.
