The Air National Guard has decided to consolidate its officer training program conducted over the past 40 years at McGhee-Tyson ANGB, Tenn., with the active duty and Air Force Reserve officer training program at Maxwell AFB, Ala., reports the The Daily Times. The last class of prospective Air Guard officers will graduate June 26, making nearly 15,000 graduates of the I.G. Brown Center. For a time, the Air Force Reserve also commissioned its officer through the Brown Center, but in 2007 shifted to Maxwell. The Brown Center celebrated its 40th anniversary last summer.
The Air Force and Boeing agreed to a nearly $2.4 billion contract for a new lot of KC-46 aerial tankers on Nov. 21. The deal, announced by the Pentagon, is for 15 new aircraft in Lot 11 at a cost of $2.389 billion—some $159 million per tail.
