Airmen assigned to the police technical advisory team at Bagram AB, Afghanistan, provided training on community policing and conducting field interviews April 22 to about one dozen members of the Afghan National Police who came together in the Parwan Provincial ANP Headquarters from several districts in the area. “All too often, they have to respond to suicide bombers and improvised explosive devices,” TSgt. Christopher Padron, NCO-in-charge at the Bagram PTAT, said of the Afghan police officials. “The field interview is not always done because of hostile acts.” The training was meant to help them to know how to go forth with interviews in such difficult situations by covering topics such as how to approach a person, the distance to maintain between the officer and the subject, and how to gather information.
