The US military personnel, including some Air Force medics, dispatched from Joint Task Force-Bravo in Honduras to aid villagers in Peru injured in the Aug. 15 earthquake have treated more than 1,300 patients since their arrival on Aug. 17. Meanwhile, JTF-Bravo sent off some 20 airmen and soldiers to assess damage in Belize from Hurricane Dean.
Earlier this week, the People’s Republic of China confirmed it is halting its nuclear arms control talks with the U.S., in retaliation for the U.S. continuing to sell arms to Taiwan. The move reinforces a “pattern of behavior” from Beijing, experts say.
