Six medical officials from the People’s Liberation Army of China recently visited Hickam AFB, Hawaii, to discuss their infection disease surveillance capabilities with Pacific Air Forces medical personnel. PACAF got an in depth explanation about how the PLA approaches crisis situations. Of particular interest to PACAF was the PLA’s experience in dealing with epidemics such as SARS (severe acute respiratory syndrome).
