Officials of the 480th Intelligence Wing at Langley AFB, Va., plan to hold a special ground-breaking ceremony Tuesday at Langley, for the wing’s new Distributed Common Ground Station facility. Wing commander Col. Judy Chizek says the new facility, which has been in the works since 2001, will combine personnel and assets from six separate facilities. The wing also plans to mark the official opening of the 480th IW operations center with a ribbon cutting on Tuesday.
The Air Force and Boeing agreed to a nearly $2.4 billion contract for a new lot of KC-46 aerial tankers on Nov. 21. The deal, announced by the Pentagon, is for 15 new aircraft in Lot 11 at a cost of $2.389 billion—some $159 million per tail.
