Air Force Capt. Michael Frasco, a logistics officer who volunteered to serve in an “in lieu of” role with the Army as a supply convoy commander during his 2006 tour of duty in Afghanistan, now tells his story via DOD’s “Why I Serve” public outreach program, reports journalist Gerry Gilmore. Frasco was in charge of more than 90 supply convoys, and his vehicles delivered more than 100 passengers and more than 70,000 tons of cargo. He also led a platoon that rescued a group of airmen stranded outside Camp Eggers when violence broke out in Kabul.
