The 723rd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron HH-60G Pave Hawk mobility and support section at Moody AFB, Ga., has purchased a generator-equipped 28-foot race trailer, which they have fitted with all the tools and equipment they need to speed deployments for exercises, stateside contingencies, and disaster relief operations. It is self-contained, with metal clad counter tops, labeled tool drawers, and large overhead bins that run the length of the unit—and a rooftop air-conditioning unit, essential for desert training conditions. What did they use beforehand? The maintainers had to rent a commercial van—a very expensive and labor-intensive process, reports Air Force journalist TSgt. Parker Gyokeres.
Airmen basic rarely go on to become four-star generals, but one who did retired last week after a 42 year career that saw him rise from a lowly slick-sleeve to the head of one of the Air Force’s most important major commands.
