Air Force Reserve nurse Lt. Col. Debra Muhl sued the Sutter Health hospital chain in federal court in San Francisco on Tuesday for firing her allegedly because she deployed to Iraq. The San Francisco Chronicle reports that Muhl claims she was fired in December 2005, just after informing her supervisor that she was going on a four-month tour of duty in Iraq. The lawsuit alleges the termination violated the 1994 Uniformed Services Employment and Re-employment Rights Act, a federal law protecting the civilian jobs of National Guard and Reserve members.
