The Republicans may not longer hold the majority, but Sen. Larry Craig (R-Idaho), chair of the Veterans’ Affairs until the next Congress sits down, is plugging new legislation that he says will expand benefits for wounded warriors. In a statement, Craig commended legislation passed last year, but he said, “Some were left out who should otherwise have benefited, so we will attempt to fix that as soon as possible.” The new bill would affect some 700 veterans, specifically those who sustained serious injury outside of Afghanistan and Iraq from Oct. 7, 2001 to Dec. 1, 2005.
The last remaining T-1 Jayhawk at JBSA-Randolph, Texas, took its final flight to the "Boneyard" at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz., on July 15. The 99th Flying Training Squadron will train pilots using T-6 and simulator until it gets T-7 Red Hawk in fiscal 2026.
