Officials at Andersen AFB, Guam, have said the base will get around 3,000 new personnel in 2007 as part of the overall buildup of operations at the key Pacific region facility, reports Associated Press news service. Air Force leaders have been talking for some time about building up Andersen, including adding a permanent unit of Global Hawk unmanned aerial vehicles.
The last remaining T-1 Jayhawk at JBSA-Randolph, Texas, took its final flight to the "Boneyard" at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz., on July 15. The 99th Flying Training Squadron will train pilots using T-6 and simulator until it gets T-7 Red Hawk in fiscal 2026.
