There have been at least nine states providing National Guard assistance to western states hit hard by winter storms, in addition to the Air National Guardsmen from Wyoming and Colorado we covered last week. The National Guard Bureau reports that hundreds of Guardsmen have rescued stranded motorists, delivered medical supplies, and restored power, as well as dropping hay to feed stranded livestock.
The U.S. military is maintaining a beefed-up presence in the Middle East, including fighters and air defense assets, following the U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities June 22 and subsequent retaliation by the Iranians against Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar.
