Air Force Chief of Staff Michael Moseley said the Air Force has “no incentive to go back” to buying any more F-15s or F-16s. Money spent on new old airplanes is going in the wrong direction, he told reporters at AFA’s conference Monday, acknowledging that USAF has declined a Boeing proposal to buy new F-15s if JSF is delayed. The Air Force will only go forward toward an “all-fifth generation” fighter force.
The rate of building B-21 bombers would speed up if the fiscal 2026 defense budget passes. But it remains unclear how much capacity would be added, and whether the Air Force would simply build the bombers faster, or buy more.
