Air University is hosting a counterinsurgency symposium next week at Maxwell AFB, Ala., to generate additional perspectives on the issue as the Air Force grapples with developing its own response to irregular warfare. Earlier this year, Air University gathered subject matter experts to help develop a defining airpower counterinsurgency plan it hopes to publish in June.
Air Force senior statesmen explained the reasons they jointly sent a letter to Congress urging restoration of the E-7 Wedgetail and more F-35s to the fiscal 2026 defense budget.
