The Air Force’s cyberspace plan is slated to roll out in a “matter of weeks,” according to Lt. Gen. Michael Peterson, chief of warfighting integration and Air Force chief information officer. Peterson told reporters Tuesday that senior Air Force leaders have been “active and demanding” of him to find a better way to define the service’s cyberspace mission. The Air Force added the term “cyberspace” to its mission statement in December 2005, and, in the spring, the service’s new vision statement included provision for a new “cyber command.” Shortly after, the service launched a Cyberspace Task Force. Peterson says the Air Force is not yet the lead for cyberspace initiatives.
