Air Force Medics Reach Out in Iraq: Since September 2005, USAF medics deployed to Sather AB, Iraq, have spent a few days each week at the Army’s Civil Military Operations Center, where they have treated and interacted with thousands of Iraqis, according to Air Force journalist SSgt. Bryan Bouchard. They work on all kinds of medical conditions, starting efforts to get some to the US for treatment if needed. Army officials say the most sought after care is dentistry, since many Iraqis have never seen a dentist.
Air Force Gen. Jacqueline D. Van Ovost—a trailblazer and one of the first 10 women to reach a four-star rank across the U.S. military—retired and passed control of U.S. Transportation Command to Air Force Gen. Randall Reed on Oct. 4, finishing an eventful tenure at TRANSCOM.
