Air Force Secretary Michael Wynne presented the 2005 Harold Brown Award to John Caldwell during a Pentagon ceremony to honor Caldwell’s work in the biosciences and protection division of the human effectiveness directorate at the Air Force Research Laboratory. His research focused o the effects of fatigue on pilots and sought ways to fight sleepiness in order to improve performance. The results of his work helped establish new fatigue countermeasures that are being used today.
