Airmen of the Royal Australian Air Force joined their American counterparts for JEFX 2006 at Nellis AFB, Nev. It was opportune for the down-under crowd since they are in the midst of revamping their own air operations center. The Australian and American airmen worked side-by-side in the JEFX CAOC, providing a unique opportunity to conduct some coalition training. “We need to be able to operate together to be effective,” said RAAF Squadron Leader Ken Bowes, adding, “Coming to JEFX ensures we have a clear understanding of future US Air Force command and control operations.”
Air Force Gen. Jacqueline D. Van Ovost—a trailblazer and one of the first 10 women to reach a four-star rank across the U.S. military—retired and passed control of U.S. Transportation Command to Air Force Gen. Randall Reed on Oct. 4, finishing an eventful tenure at TRANSCOM.
